PETG overlay is a thin, transparent card-manufacturing film made from glycol-modified polyester. It is placed over a printed card core and bonded through thermal lamination to form the protective front or rear surface of the finished card.
Unlike a conventional self-adhesive protective film, coated PETG card overlay is normally laminated with heat and pressure. The coated side faces the compatible printed card layer, while the outer side forms the visible card surface.
Its purpose is to protect printed graphics, improve interlayer bonding, contribute to the required card thickness and provide the selected glossy, matte, frosted or functional surface.

Get a PETG Overlay RecommendationCondition the PETG overlay, printed sheets and internal card layers in a clean production environment. Materials should be dry, flat and free from dust or surface contamination.
Allow the printed sheets to dry or cure fully according to the ink supplier's requirements. Residual solvent or incomplete UV curing can reduce bonding performance.
Identify the bonding side before stacking. The coated surface normally faces the printed or structural card layer, while the selected finished surface faces outward.
